I spent my twenties chasing numbers and my early thirties paying for it — cranky shoulders, a locked-up thoracic spine, hips that refused to sit into a squat. Strength without mobility is a short career. Here is the minimum effective dose I now prescribe to every lifter in our gym.
TWO SESSIONS, FORTY MINUTES TOTAL
Twice a week, twenty minutes: five minutes of breath-led sun salutations, ten minutes of deep hip and thoracic openers (pigeon, low lunge, puppy pose), and five minutes of still Yin-style holds. That is it. Within six weeks most lifters report deeper squats, pain-free pressing and better sleep.
AND FOR THE YOGIS?
Flexibility without strength is just as fragile. Two full-body dumbbell sessions per week — goblet squats, rows, push-ups, deadlifts — protect joints, build bone density and make advanced arm balances dramatically easier. Our group training classes pair both in a single hour.
THE TAKEAWAY
Stop choosing sides. The strongest people in our studio do yoga, and the most graceful do strength work. Train both and each one improves faster.
Train both under one roof — first class free.
