You do not need an hour, a heated room or advanced flexibility to change your mornings. This fifteen-minute flow is the exact sequence I practise before teaching sunrise Vinyasa — six poses, one breath per movement, finished before your coffee cools.
THE SEQUENCE
1. Standing breath (2 min). Feet grounded, hands on ribs. Inhale for four counts, exhale for six. Ten rounds — this sets the pace for everything after.
2. Sun salutation A, three rounds (5 min). Move slowly enough that breath leads and body follows. Bend the knees generously in forward folds; mornings are for warming, not forcing.
3. Low lunge + twist, each side (4 min). Ninety seconds per side in the lunge, then one hand down and a gentle open twist. Hips and spine will thank you by 9 AM.
4. Legs-up-the-wall (4 min). Finish inverted and still. This downshifts the nervous system so you walk into the day calm instead of wired.
MAKE IT STICK
Roll out your mat the night before and keep your phone in another room until the flow is done. After two weeks it stops feeling like a routine and starts feeling like the day hasn't properly started without it.
